Superman: Legacy Readies to Take Flight Again as SAG-AFTRA Strike Ends

While it wasn't the Krisis of the Krimson Kryptonite, Superman was left powerless all the same. The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike began back on July 14, 2023, on the heels of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, and they left showbuisness in a seemingly perpetual state of Hollywood doldrums. But now, thankfully, both disputes are things of the past. As such, filming on James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman: Legacy film will start in the spring of 2024.

According to a report published by Deadline, Gunn will begin shooting the Man of Steel’s first feature film in the upcoming DCU next year. Despite the WGA and SAG-AFTRA disputes, prep work has been done on Superman: Legacy, and the shoot will commence in March of 2024. Legacy was one of the movies that did not delay its theatrical release during the two strikes, so Gunn’s vision is still scheduled to open in cinemas on July 11, 2025.

Gunn completed the Superman: Legacy script prior to the strikes' resulting madness, which has dominated headlines for the better part of 2023. And, luckily, the film’s leads, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, had already been cast before the SAG-AFTRA dispute started up.
