Prometheus
Avatar 2 Writer Takes Over Marvel’s Fantastic Four Movie In Scriptwriter Change It looks like the changes are being wrung on another Marvel movie with Snowpiercer’s Josh Friedman boarding Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four movie as writer. Friedman, who also had a hand in Avatar: The Way of Water, takes over from previous writers Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer according to The Hollywood Reporter. While this kind of change is nothing new for Marvel, it does suggest that the film’s tone could be changing to something more serious. Marvel movies have always toed the line when it comes to the balance between drama, action and comedy. While many movies have managed to hit the balance just right, others, such as 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, have been seen to push the comedy side of things a bit too far. Previous Fantastic Four writers Kaplan and Springer were best known for their comedy writing, and some of their other upcoming projects include Disaster Wedding and the Rebel Wilson vehicle K-Pop: Lost in America. However, Josh Friedman is more of a dark sci-fi veteran, whose credits include co-writing Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds, Terminator: Dark Fate and adapting Bong Joon-Ho’s Snowpiercer for TV. Having constantly worked in this kind of genre, and also being enlisted by James Cameron to help on the Avatar movies, it would suggest that the Fantastic Four movie could still including some of the standard Marvel humor, but could also be heading down a darker route than it was originally headed. WandaVision helmer Matt Shakman is still expected to direct the movie. movieweb.com/avatar-2-writer-takes-over-marvels-fantastic-four-movie-in-scriptwriter-change/
